<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Self-Love Exercises to start loving yourself</h2>



<p>It&#8217;s easy to turn on the TV or social media and compare ourselves to celebrities or influencers. Marketing and propaganda can make you believe you are not pretty, have the proper body shape, or have the wrong skin color. Often you may wonder how I can accept myself. So how do you block it out and start loving yourself?</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. Don&#8217;t be afraid to say no.</h3>



<p>For some people, the two-letter word NO is effortless to use. But for others, it&#8217;s hard to say no to doing things that your friends and family may ask you to do. If this describes you, then it&#8217;s not necessarily a bad thing. It just shows you want to be there for those who you love and who love you. But what if someone asks you to do something harmful to you, or because you say yes all the time? They may start taking advantage of you.</p>



<p> That&#8217;s when it&#8217;s time to think about whether you should change some of those yes&#8217;s to no&#8217;s. It is okay to say no at times. It does not mean you are not a nice person. It just means you know your limitations and you value your time.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. Give Social Media a break.</h3>



<p>After looking at a post on social media, do you ever say to yourself, man, I wish my hair looked like that, or why can&#8217;t I be that skinny? If this is happening to you, it may be time to give social media a break. I find it helpful to unplug from social media every so often. I find myself thinking I need to buy more things to build a life I don&#8217;t want or need.</p>



<p>Contentment is vital and is part of self-love. That doesn&#8217;t mean we don&#8217;t need to do anything to enhance our beauty or the way we look. It just means we are happy and satisfied with who we are. So don&#8217;t let social media force you into following the crowd. Be who you are and build the life you want on your terms.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. Love who you are and Smile in the mirror</h3>



<p>At times it&#8217;s not easy to stare at ourselves in our birthday suits or without makeup on in the mirror. But when you look, how do you feel about what you see? It&#8217;s okay to say that you want to change how you look, but in that moment, what is the why behind those changes?</p>



<p>The why will help you determine if you need more self-love or if you love yourself but want to be healthier and happier.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">4. Don&#8217;t Compare Yourself to other people.</h3>

<p>There is only one you on this earth. Accept yourself for who you are. Embrace your strengths and weaknesses, and appreciate and grow from others. <h3 class="wp-block-heading">5. Enjoy some alone time.</h3>



<p>With a busy schedule, finding some alone time may be challenging. However, setting boundaries and spending time alone can help you focus on your needs and reduce stress. Give yourself a treat and do activities you enjoy doing. If you love being outdoors, go for a walk or bike ride. Go to the movies or dinner by yourself. <a href="https://yourlovelyself.com/journaling-ideas-for-beginners/">Start journaling</a> or reading a book if you like doing things a little more low-key.</p>



<p>Spending alone time can also help you focus on things you want to change. This could be your finances, health, or career. First, meditate on what you can do to improve your life, and then use your alone time to work towards your goals.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">6. Start thinking positively about yourself.</h3>



<p>To start thinking positively about ourselves, sometimes we have to choose friends that make us feel good. Friends who are jealous and constantly put you down are not friends to you at all. Surround yourself with people who will speak positively about you, correct you when you&#8217;re wrong, and love you no matter what you go through.</p>



<p>Another part of thinking positively about ourselves is being grateful for what we have and the many positive aspects of our personality. Start a daily routine and list what you are thankful for<a href="https://yourlovelyself.com/product/7-page-daily-gratitude-template/">. Keeping a gratitude journal</a> will remind you of all the blessings and encourage you to look at the positive when feeling discouraged. You can fill your journal with love affirmations to help you remind yourself to think positively about yourself.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Always remember you are worth it.</h2>



<p>At the end of the day, practicing self-love and doing these self love exercises will help you to love ourselves and see that we are worth love, appreciation, respect, and every good thing that life can offer. Have compassion for who you are, and don&#8217;t be too hard on yourself when you make mistakes.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Practice Physical Self-Care? </h2>



<p>When I was younger, I would go to the gym often. It was a routine that helped me manage my stress and gave me some time for myself, which helped to improve my mood and energy. But as life goes on, finding the time to maintain your fitness and beauty routines can be challenging.&nbsp;</p>



<p>We all know how important it is for women (and men!) to take care of their emotional health and bodies by eating well, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep. However, sometimes, we need help! Here are some ways to practice physical self-care and start a care plan.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here are a few Care Activities to Help you get Started</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Treat Yourself to a spa day.</h3>



<p>If you are like me, I often talk about taking a spa day, but most of the time, I never follow through. Even though a spa day at your favorite salon or spa can be expensive, it can help to improve your mental health condition. Taking time out of your busy schedule to disconnect for a moment will help you to relax and deal with any extra stress you may have. Here are a few ideas to get and stay mentally healthy:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Get a massage. It’s a simple and effective way to reduce stress, lower blood pressure and boost mood. You can either go to a spa or find someone in your neighborhood who offers massages.<br></li>



<li>Make time for your favorite physical activity, like dancing or roller skating. Take yourself out on dates: See a movie or treat yourself to a fancy dinner at an upscale restaurant.&nbsp;<br></li>



<li>Eat healthy meals and snacks throughout the day instead of relying on convenience foods high in sugar, fat, and salt—making you feel worse than when you started!<br></li>
</ul>



<p>There are simple leisure activities that I like to do at home that also helps me feel like I&#8217;m giving myself a spa day on a budget. One of those is taking a hot bath. Add your favorite bath bombs, some excellent music, and a few candles, and you&#8217;ll have your little spa in your house.  Another one of my favorites when I&#8217;m feeling emotionally drained is making myself a hot cup of my favorite tea. Chop up some delicious fruit and add it to your tea. The smell is addicting, it&#8217;s suitable for your immune system, and the hot tea will instantly help you to relax. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Try new beauty products.</h3>



<p>Beauty products are often a great way to explore creativity and learn new things. You can try different types of products, techniques, styles, brands, colors, and fragrances. You could also look into treatments that improve your skin health.</p>



<p>The point is: that there are many ways to get creative with your beauty routine! The best part is that it&#8217;s all self-care—so go ahead and try something new today!</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Start a beauty routine.</h3>



<p>You might think that looking after your skin is only for women, but men who want to look their best should practice regular skin care too. A few minutes of self-care each day can go a long way toward making you feel more confident and happy with yourself.</p>



<p>Start by washing your face with a warm washcloth or cloth to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Avoid using hot water on your face, as it will dry out the skin and may cause redness and breakouts. Follow up with an astringent toner to close pores after cleansing (but be careful not to overdo it). Some of my favorite products are The Ordinary skin care products. They are cheap and produce excellent results.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Exercise regularly</h3>

<p>Exercise is a great way to care for yourself by improving your physical and mental health. Plus, it&#8217;s one of the best ways to get out of bed when you&#8217;re feeling blue!</p>



<p>Try taking a brisk walk during lunch break instead of eating at your desk. If walking doesn&#8217;t appeal to you, try going for a bike ride with friends or family members in an area with shops or restaurants. This way, everyone gets exercise while socializing at the same time!</p>



<p>You could also try jogging in place while watching TV at home after dinner instead of sitting around idly watching TV shows back-to-back. It’s a great way to work out but distract yourself simultaneously. One of my favorite channels on Youtube that I subscribe to is <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@growwithjo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">@growwithjo</a>. Her workouts are fun and great for beginners.&nbsp;</p>



<h6 class="wp-block-heading">TIP: I would encourage anyone thinking about starting an exercise routine to consult a medical professional to be sure your health condition is where it needs to be before starting. </h6>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Manage your stress</h3>



<p>Stress is a normal part of life but can harm your health. If you find yourself feeling stressed out and emotional, try the following techniques:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Take a break. Do something that relaxes you (e.g., reading a book or watching TV), or just go for a walk outside if you can get away from your desk.<br></li>



<li>Practice mindfulness and deep breathing exercises to help calm down when you feel overwhelmed by stress.<br></li>



<li>Talk to someone about what&#8217;s stressing you out—it&#8217;s easier said than done with many people, but this can be very helpful in working through difficult times and emotions with someone who understands what it&#8217;s like to deal with stress!<br></li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">These activities will help you to maintain your physical well-being.</h2>



<p>Physical self-care is a concept that encourages individuals to practice activities that help them maintain their physical well-being. These activities may include eating healthy meals, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and drinking water.</p>



<p>It&#8217;s important to remember how much your mind influences how you feel physically. For example, feeling drained or in pain all day long can affect your overall well-being and ability to concentrate at work or school. Conversely, when we feel good about ourselves, we tend to feel better mentally too!</p>



<p>Keeping yourself healthy through regular exercise and good nutrition will give you more energy throughout the day. So if something negative happens, you&#8217;ll be able to handle things successfully.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I know what you&#8217;re thinking: I don&#8217;t need self-improvement!&#8221; But, as humans, we should always strive for more and get out of our comfort zone. So I&#8217;ve put together a list of 11 monthly goals for 2023. You can work on these things each month to improve yourself. Starting a new plan is never easy, so using<a href="https://yourlovelyself.com/product/habit-tracker-printable/"> a habit tracker</a> will help you complete what you started. If you&#8217;re like me, it will help keep your focus on what matters most: becoming the best version of yourself!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Monthly Goals for 2023 That Help you Become the Best Version of Yourself</h2>



<p>Setting monthly goals can take time and effort. We are often distracted and waste time on social media and other non-essential things. As a result, we need more time to set monthly goals that will improve our personal development. But today is the day to strive to be better than who you are right now and feel a sense of accomplishment that is very rewarding. So here are some monthly goal ideas.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#1. Learn a new skill</h3>



<p>Try a new hobby or sport you&#8217;ve never tried before! It can be as simple as journaling, knitting, or playing volleyball in the park. It doesn&#8217;t matter what it is. Just do something different from your usual routine to shake up your life and make some space for self-improvement this month! If you need help finding something new, many resources online can help point you in the right direction.</p>

<p>There are a lot of things that you might be holding onto that could do with some refreshing. First, re-evaluate your things and throw away anything that hasn&#8217;t been used in 6 months or more.</p>



<p>&nbsp;If it&#8217;s broken, fix it or replace it with something new (you&#8217;ll find various guides online for repairing everything from microwaves to computers).&nbsp;</p>



<p>If it&#8217;s still good but not what you want, donate the item to charity or give it away to someone who could use it more than you can—it&#8217;s better than letting it sit in your basement forever!</p>



<p>Finally, update the rest of your belongings by buying new clothes and shoes if necessary. Some other ideas might be:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>&nbsp;Buying a car or bike if yours is old and unreliable.</li>



<li>&nbsp;Buying a phone or laptop if they don&#8217;t suit your needs anymore.</li>



<li>&nbsp;Replacing lamps/curtains/other items around your house if they&#8217;re outdated or in bad condition.</li>



<li>&nbsp;Upgrading furniture if any pieces no longer work for your needs (for example, swapping. out an old mattress for one with better support).</li>
</ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#3. Start a side hustle.</h3>



<p>If you&#8217;re looking to make some extra money, then starting a side hustle is the way to do it.</p>



<p>A side hustle is an additional job or activity that generates income outside your regular work. Some people enjoy having something else on top of their 9–5 workday routine.</p>



<p>Whether you want to earn more money or just have something fun and different for yourself, starting a side hustle can be great for building self-confidence and motivation and helping build up savings or retirement funds.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#4. Examine your finances.</h3>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Look at your bank statements. Many people think they know what they&#8217;re spending their money on, but do you? If so, can you prove it?</li>



<li>Take a look at your credit card statements. Do you pay off your balances in full every month? Are there recurring charges that are eating up all of your available credit?</li>



<li>Review your budget and spending habits. If there is something in particular that you&#8217;d like to spend less on, now would be an excellent time to find out where precisely those savings could come from (or if it&#8217;s even possible).&nbsp;</li>
</ul>



<p>If nothing stands out as too expensive or unnecessary, consider evaluating whether any of these things make sense for someone in their 20s/30s—are they helpful or just keeping old habits alive because they&#8217;ve always been around?</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#5. Improve your personality.</h3>



<p>Develop an upbeat personality: You will be more confident, outgoing, and patient.</p>



<p>Practice forgiveness and become better at forgiving others: Be less judgmental of other people&#8217;s actions and mistakes, and forgive them for their failures or wrongdoings against you.</p>



<p>Improve your empathy skills: This can help you understand someone else&#8217;s perspective, making them feel more comfortable around you. It also helps to avoid arguments in the first place by preventing misunderstandings before they happen!</p>

<p>Staying hydrated is essential for your body and mind. If you&#8217;re dehydrated, you&#8217;ll feel tired and irritable, leading to a bad mood or anger issues. Take breaks throughout the day to refill your cup.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#7. Create a weekly or monthly budget.</h3>

<li>You should always have a budget. Budgeting is one of the most important things you can do to manage your finances and ensure they&#8217;re working for you, not against you. Not only will it help you feel more secure about your future, but it will also help you feel less stressed about money overall.</li>



<li>Creating a weekly or monthly budget that includes your expenses and income streams is best. Once this is established, use software like Mint or Personal Capital to track those expenses over time so that if anything changes (like a new car payment), it&#8217;s easy for the app to alert you so that nothing falls through the cracks!</li>



<li>By keeping track of where every dollar goes each month—and sticking with that plan—you&#8217;ll be able to identify areas where some money could come back into play (or possibly even save up for big purchases down the road).</li>
</ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#8. Create a sleep routine.</h3>



<p>Sleep helps you feel happier, more productive, and more alert during the day. So if you want to make a habit out of self-improvement, a regular sleep schedule should be on your list too!</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#9. Plan a daily workout routine for yourself and stick to it.</h3>



<p>You can&#8217;t expect to get fit if you don&#8217;t put in the work. To help you reach your weight loss goal, set aside time for exercise and stick to it. It&#8217;s tempting to skip a workout when life gets busy or stressful, but if this is important to you, create a routine that works for your schedule and make sure not to skip any sessions throughout the month.</p>



<p>Your daily workout should include a warmup, strength training, cardio exercise (running/biking), core training, and stretching at least three times per week for about 30 minutes each session.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#10. Become a volunteer and help those in need.</h3>



<p>Volunteering is a great way to help others and improve your mental health. In addition, volunteering can help you feel more fulfilled and connected to your community, even if you volunteer alone. Even doing random acts of kindness will not only makes someone&#8217;s day but will also increase your happiness.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">#11. Try to keep your credit card usage to a minimum to save on future debt.</h3>



<p>Keep your credit card usage to a minimum, especially if you must avoid paying off the monthly balance. Credit cards are beneficial but can also be dangerous—if you don&#8217;t pay off the balance every month, it will add up and affect your credit score. If you have any debt on your card (or anything else), clear it out soon as possible.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Positive affirmations are statements you tell yourself to build positive thoughts about yourself. These can help you feel better about yourself, more confident, and in control of your life.</p>

<p>Identify the source of your stress. Stress is a natural part of life, but it can be debilitating if you don&#8217;t learn how to deal with it effectively. Is it from work? Are you having trouble sleeping? Do you have too many responsibilities on top of your job?</p>



<p>Take a few deep breaths and try not to get worked up over little things that don&#8217;t matter in the grand scheme of things. Then, once you&#8217;ve identified the source(s) of your stress, take some time for yourself so that it won&#8217;t continue affecting everything else in your life negatively. This might mean taking five minutes away from work. Maybe sit down and eat lunch outside so there aren&#8217;t any distractions! Either way works just fine!</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Acknowledge your shortcomings and forgive yourself for them.</h3>



<p>It&#8217;s okay to make mistakes. It&#8217;s okay not to be perfect. And you must forgive yourself for these shortcomings because self-forgiveness will help you become a more effective caretaker of your loved ones and yourself.</p>

<p>In every situation, look for the positive. Then, look for the silver lining and see how it can be a catalyst for growth.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Also, look at everyone (including yourself) with a positive lens: everyone has good qualities that make them unique individuals; everyone brings something—even if it is just their presence—to this world; everyone deserves love and compassion because they are human beings like us! So take time to appreciate these traits instead of focusing solely on what’s wrong with people/things/situations in daily life.</p>

<p>The first thing you can do is craft a daily routine that works for you. For example, some of us need an early wake-up call, and others prefer to sleep in. Some of us like to get up at the same time every day and go through our morning routine step by step, while others prefer to feel what they want to do with each new day.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The important thing is that your routine meets your needs and gives you room for creativity and growth—not just because it&#8217;s another item on someone else&#8217;s list of &#8220;how-to be better.&#8221; If there&#8217;s something from this list that resonates with you but doesn&#8217;t fit into your current life, try adding just one small element at a time until it becomes part of your everyday life.</p>



<p>Take care of your physical health by eating better and getting more sleep (which helps support emotional health too).</p>



<p>Sleeping well is a crucial part of emotional self-care. An extra hour or two of sleep can significantly impact your mood, concentration, and energy levels—not to mention your physical health. <a href="https://www.thensf.org/sleep-facts-and-statistics/#:~:text=The%20National%20Sleep%20Foundation%20recommends,may%20need%207%2D8%20hours." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The National Sleep Foundation</a> recommends that adults get seven to nine hours of sleep per night for good health and performance.</p>



<p>If you&#8217;ve tried everything from counting sheep to relaxing music but still can&#8217;t fall asleep after 30 minutes or so at night, consider taking some time during the day to relax and unwind or starting a <a href="https://yourlovelyself.com/3-surprising-ways-to-boost-your-self-care-night-routine/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">self-care night routine</a>. Take a short walk outside in nature or read something soothingly calming before bed.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Take good care of yourself!</h3>



<p>You may have heard the term “self-care” before, but what does it mean? Self-care is taking steps to care for yourself—your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This can include healthy eating, exercise; getting enough sleep; doing things you enjoy.</p>



<p>Spending time with people you enjoy, doing things you&#8217;re good at (like singing along to karaoke on Friday nights), and trying new experiences that are good for you.</p>



<p>Taking care of yourself doesn&#8217;t just help keep your mood up—it also helps prevent burnout from overexertion when life gets overwhelming! So, try some care activities to help you live a happy, productive life.</p>



<p>Sometimes it&#8217;s hard to put our needs first when we have others we want to care for. However, these care practices will help us be the best versions of ourselves, giving us a better chance to be there for our friends and family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Are you feeling stressed and In need of a break? Self-care is something we tend to overlook. I bet you know that self-care is important, but when life happens, and other things take priority, your self-care routine gets pushed to the bottom of the list. Having the right life balance can be difficult if you have to work full-time and take care of your kids or other loved ones. Self-care isn&#8217;t selfish. In this post, we&#8217;ll go over 3 types of self-care that would benefit you.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Three Types of Self Care Activities</h2>



<p>When most people hear the term self-care, they immediately think of beauty products, getting a massage, or getting their hair and nails done. While those things are self-care practices, there is so much more to self-care. Let&#8217;s talk about the three most common types of care practices. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Physical Self-Care </h3>



<p>We all want to be beautiful, and our physical health is essential. We all want to wear a smile and a happy face because it makes us look good and feel great. But it also goes beyond this—it’s about taking care of your body and giving yourself the love you deserve. </p>



<p>If you’ve heard anyone say, “I feel like a million bucks,” then you know what I mean! That feeling is the best kind of high, but it can only come from taking care of yourself physically first before anything else. Beauty care is an essential part of self-care because it helps boost confidence in how you look by improving your physical beauty through care products or services (like getting haircuts). Some physical care examples are: </p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Exercising regularly.</li><li><a href="https://yourlovelyself.com/10-ways-to-have-a-self-care-saturday%ef%bf%bc/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Have a self-care Saturday.</a></li><li>Life balance which includes the right amount of time for rest and entertainment.</li></ul>

<p>Spending too much time on social media can hurt how we view ourselves. Often times we see beautiful people all over social media, but it&#8217;s essential to be careful not to compare yourself to influencers or anyone on social media. Remember, you are beautiful the way you are. Physical self-care is important because when we take care of ourselves, we are more confident, comfortable, and content about who we are.</p>

<p>Taking time for yourself is a great way to care for yourself. Unfortunately, we often forget that we must care for ourselves when we are busy caring for others. It&#8217;s important to remember that if you don&#8217;t take the time to give your body the rest it needs, you will not be able to give yourself or others what they deserve.</p>



<p>When it comes down to it, caring for others begins by caring for ourselves first. If we don&#8217;t practice self-care regularly and adequately care for our bodies and minds, how can we expect ourselves or anyone else in our lives to do so?</p>
